Finding Common Ground: A Contemporary Challenge for the Church
In public life today Christians are seeking answers to fundamental questions: Where are we? Who are we? What’s happening? How should we respond? Against the recent trend of Christians ‘exiling’ themselves due to increasing opposition, this lecture will argue that such an approach is not the way forward. Rather, what is needed is fresh imagination inspired by the Old Testament prophets, and a renewed commitment to seek the common good.
Dr Kate Harrison Brennan is the CEO of Anglican Deaconess Ministries and former Advisor to Prime Minister Julia Gillard. She is a NSW Rhodes Scholar, with a DPhil in Politics from the University of Oxford. Her edited volume, Making Global Institutions Work, was published by Routledge in September 2014. Kate and her husband are members of St George’s Anglican Church in Sydney’s Paddington.
