What were the NT authorities in the 1980s we young Chinese theological students in Hong Kong consulted whenever we faced difficulties in interpreting a biblical text?
Leon Morris, F. F. Bruce and Donald Guthrie – these are the scholars we were most familiar with. As a young seminarian, I owed a great debt to the works of Leon Morris. His exposition on “propitiation” in Romans made an indelible impression on me. Now that many of his works, including his Tyndale commentaries and New Testament Theology have been translated into Chinese, his evangelical and balanced views will continue to have an impact on the Chinese theological scene for many years to come.
