Master of Divinity
This course gives you the best possible preparation if you want to preach and teach the bible, lead a ministry, evangelise, plant a church and take part in wide debates in the church or society. It offers you academic rigor, theological depth and a wide range of options for developing your ministry skills.
You can undertake this degree within the context of a learning community.
Master of Divinity candidates are eligible for AUSTUDY, ABSTUDY, Youth Allowance and FEE-HELP.
Studying for a Master of Divinity
The Master of Divinity involves:
- The completion of 96 credit points (24 subjects) which is equivalent to three years full-time study
- Thirty two credit points (8 subjects) in bible and church history (including Greek)
- A minimum of 16 credit points (4 subjects) in Christian thought (including 12 credit points in Theology)
- A minimum of 16 credit points (4 subjects) in Old and New Testament Exegesis (ie. Detailed study of books of the bible).
- A further 32 credit points in your area of interest, with at least 8 credit points of Ministry and Practice.

You may take eight extra subjects, (ie. A one year equivalent), and be awarded a Diploma of Ministry in addition to your MDiv. This is required for Melbourne Anglican Ordination candidates. It is highly recommended for all students entering full time ministry.
Entry Requirements
Applicants require a degree from an Australian university in a non-theological discipline or equivalent. It is assumed that applicants will have the knowledge associated with one academic discipline to first degree level and the skills of evaluation and analysis of the content of learning and of the secondary literature relevant to that content.

A maximum of eight years is allowed for the completion of this degree, and the award can be taken on a part-time basis.
