Doctrine of God & Work of Christ
TH402/TH602 Doctrine of God and the work of Christ
This unit is fundamental to knowing God, and fundamental to helping others know God. It tackles what we often assume we know, Who is God? Who is Christ? What has Christ done for us? We tackle these topics in the light of our mission to make disciples of all nations, and of our need to grow in cross-cultural awareness to be useful to God and useful to others. This unit includes: The being and attributes of God; the Person of Christ, his humanity and deity; the Holy Spirit; the Holy Trinity; and the work of Christ, including his incarnation and ministry; the death and resurrection of Jesus; and his ascension and heavenly reign and his return.
The learning outcomes include understanding the theological shape of each of the topics in the light of the Bible and Christian thinking from the past, learning to think theologicall, working on each topic in the light of current thinking in the church and in society, learning the practical implications for life and ministry of each topic, learning to teach and train others, and learning to learn.
