Peter Adams

Peter was born and brought up in Melbourne, trained for the ministry at Ridley, and ordained in Melbourne in 1970. He served at Ivanhoe, Rosanna, and Moonee Ponds. He then studied in England in London and Durham, and lectured at St John's College, Durham. He returned to Melbourne in 1982, and served as minister of St Jude's Carlton in Melbourne for 20 years, and as Anglican Chaplain to Melbourne University. He is a Canon of St Paul's Cathedral. He became Principal of Ridley in 2002.

He regularly speaks at conferences for preachers throughout Australia and internationally. His passions are forming and training men and women for effective ministry, equipping preachers, renewing Anglicanism, and good quality classical music. He has published four theological books, and booklets on spirituality, the Puritans, the Quakers, and the preaching of John Donne.

Currently writing on Malachi, Calvin’s  theology of learning, a Workbook for Preachers, and on the history of Ridley Melbourne

Hobbies & Interests

He enjoys open log fires, wild ocean waves, good friends, mechanical clocks, playing the piano and pipe organ, reading history and crime fiction, watching old movies, and being walked by his dog Bella.
